Happy August my bookish friends, I hope you are staying as cool as you can in this extremely hot summer heat. I know that here in Florida it hit the hottest it’s been here in over 100 years I guess. If I’m honest, I'm trying to stay inside as much as I can despite my oldest son having football Monday-Thursday for two and a half hours.
I'm hoping to get a lot more books read this month, and have been approved for quite a few ARC’s which I’m excited to read and share with you guys. The books I'm going to be reading this August are mostly coming out in September and November so it’s the perfect time to see if you want to pre-order any of them if they peek your interest. It helps authors a lot when you pre-order the books, or ask from them ahead of time at your local libraries. The more authors we can help get their books out there the better.!
📚 August To Be Read 📚
Till Summer Do Us Part By Meghan Quinn
Fake Marriage, Brother's best friend, and add the spice.. Um hell yeah. Reading through some of the reviews this book is supposed to have some pretty great witty banter and I AM HERE FOR IT. I'm so excited that this was the pick for my book club!
Synopsis:
“Scottie Price just started a new job and it's a real sausage fest. She's the only woman on a team filled with Brads and Chads. Expecting a bachelor pad atmosphere, she is quickly corrected when she finds out everyone is happily married.
In an effort to impress her boss, Scottie mentions her nonexistent husband in a company meeting. But eagle-eyed Chad points out her lack of wedding ring. Panicked, Scottie creates a story about her unhappy marriage. Unfortunately for Scottie, her boss has a solution—a one-on-one session with the best marriage counselor in the Northeast, who happens to be her boss’s husband.
With no way out of her lie, Scottie agrees to see him. Frantic, she calls in help from her best friend who sets her up with his brother, an improv-obsessed millionaire.
Enter Wilder Wells. More than happy to take on the job, he teaches Scottie the main rule of improv: always say yes. But the rule backfires during the session when Wilder signs them up for an eight-day summer marriage camp with all of Scottie’s co-workers where she’ll have to share a cabin with her way-too-handsome fake husband.”
2. You’ve Found Oliver by Dustin Thao
I do have to say that I’m currently reading the first book, “ You’ve Reached Sam” and it definitely hits the sad heart strings considering its about grief of a best friend. But I’m really excited to read about Oliver’s story since he was apart of the first book. From what I can see you don’t HAVE to read “You’ve Reached Sam” before this one, but I do think it would be helpful. This book comes out September 30, 2025.
Synopsis:
“It’s been a year since his best friend, Sam, died. Even though Oliver knows he won’t get a response, he can’t stop texting Sam’s number, especially as the anniversary of his death approaches.
Then one day he accidentally hits the call button, and someone picks up.
The voice on the other end isn’t Sam. Sam’s number was reassigned and a stranger has been receiving Oliver’s private and vulnerable messages for months. But Ben, a college student in Seattle, won’t remain a stranger for long. When they finally meet in person, their spark is undeniable. Everything seems perfect until Oliver discovers something strange might be keeping them apart.”
3. I, Medusa by Ayana Gray
I have already started reading this, and I am Loving it. A retelling of Medusa with all the feminine rage. Reading all of the reviews so far I just know this will probably be on my top books list at the end of the year. I don’t want to predict a 5 star but I at the same time I hate having to put the Kindle down and stop reading to be whatever this thing called an “Adult” is. Honestly it’s not fair. This book comes out November 18, 2025. ( Also the Hardcover has BEAUTIFUL sprayed edges)
Synopsis:
“Meddy has spent her whole life as a footnote in someone else’s story. Out of place next to her beautiful, immortal sisters and her parents—both gods, albeit minor ones—she dreams of leaving her family’s island for a life of adventure. So when she catches the eye of the goddess Athena, who invites her to train as an esteemed priestess in her temple, Meddy leaps at the chance to see the world beyond her home.
In the colorful market streets of Athens and the clandestine chambers of the temple, Meddy flourishes in her role as Athena’s favored acolyte, getting her first tastes of purpose and power. But when she is noticed by another Olympian, Poseidon, the course of Meddy’s promising future is suddenly and irrevocably altered.
When her locs are transformed into snakes as punishment for a crime she did not commit, Medusa must embrace a new identity—not as a victim, but as a vigilante—and with it, the chance to write her own story as mortal, martyr, and myth.
Exploding with rage, heartbreak, and love, I, Medusa portrays a young woman caught in the crosscurrents between her heart’s deepest desires and the cruel, careless games the Olympian gods play.”
I can not wait to deep dive into these books this month. I do have a few more on my list to read Like Red Card by Maren Moore, The House of Quiet by Kiersten White, The Mean Ones by Tatiana Schlote-Bonne, and The Weaver Bride by Lydia Gregovic. SO SO SO SO many good books this month. Trying to prioritize has been stressful! I can't wait to get out all the reviews for you guys. I also have reached out to a few of the authors for an interview which would be so awesome if some of them reply and I can add that to the blog!
While most of these books are Advanced Readers Copies and some of these don’t come out until September or November. It’s a great way to support the Authors when you Pre-Order at Indie Stores OR request the book at your local Libraries! Another great way to support Authors is by just going to their social media pages and sharing the book to your friends and telling them about it!
